Mufti Day
Gold coin donation. Proceeds to Kiwi Can.
Kiwi Can is a programme that has run in our school for almost nine years. We have two Kiwi Can leaders, Brant and Ayla, who take classes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each week. The programme is values based and a huge amount of fun. They teach themes that relate to our school values, this term focusing on enhancing manawaroa (resilience) within our students. Each class participates in weekly sessions.
Kiwi Can is self funded, and this year for the first time we are wanting to raise extra funds to ensure the programme continues.
We are holding a mufti day and our gold coin donations will go to the Dingle Foundation who run Kiwi Can.
We are so proud to announce that we have won the following awards at this year’s regional awards evening:
🏆 Top Kiwi Can School in the Western Bay
🏆 Top Kiwi Can Pupil for the Western Bay - Caleb Samuels for Integrity.
🏆 Top Kiwi Can Leaders for the Western Bay
Kaydin and Asher - Drop for Youth WBOP 2024
We are celebrating our wins with a Sky Dive (fundraiser). Matua Kaydin and Asher Matthews will show us anything is possible with the right attitude and courage, and participating in the Drop for Youth Western Bay of Plenty 2024. This involves skydiving 12,000ft to raise money for the Graeme Dingle Foundation.
A Give a Little Page to support Kaydin and Asher with their jump for Kiwi Can has been created and we would so appreciate any koha you can give or sharing the page if you cannot give a koha.

Cycle Skills Training Programme 2024
Event: Cycle Skills Training Programme
Dates: Thursday, 31st October & Friday, 1st November 2024
Location: Kaitere
Join us for the Kids Can Ride Bike Ready cycle skills training programme, delivered by Tauranga City Council. This training is a fantastic opportunity for our tamariki to learn essential cycling skills in both non-traffic and traffic environments.
Two grades of training will be delivered:
Grade 1 is taught in a non-traffic environment to enable skills to be developed.
Grade 2 builds on the skills of Grade 1 and is taught on lightly trafficked, single-lane roads.
Each student’s skill level will be assessed prior to training on the road, and full risk management procedures are followed to ensure the safety of all children.
Grade 1 trainees develop balance and bike control skills for:
starting/stopping and steering
riding with one hand to signal
looking all around (including behind).
They begin to build their knowledge of:
what makes a safe bike and helmet?
the legal requirements for cycling on-road • bike control skills and observation techniques.
Grade 2 trainees refine their bike handling skills to:
be able to ‘look, signal, look again, move’ when making turns
develop observation techniques and hazard awareness for cycling on the road
They build their knowledge of:
defensive cycling strategies
basic road rules
how to cycle on the road, including the importance of cycling in the appropriate lane position (to ‘see and be seen’) and in a variety of simple traffic situations.
Your child will need:
☑ A bike in good working order. It’s a good idea to undertake a simple bike check prior to the training to identify any major faults. A bike and helmet check sheet will be sent home along with this letter.
☑ A regulation standards-approved helmet that fits well
☑ Closed toe shoes
Thank you for your support of cycle skills training.
Please fill out the online consent form below by Friday 27th September.
