Matariki Disco

Theme: Matariki - “Shine Bright and Sparkly”.

Tickets on sale from 19 May ($5 each) and can be purchased by cash or Eftpos at the school office or through the parent bank account.

Info:

  • There will be sausages, donuts, and glow products available to purchase – please bring coins and not large notes.

  • Students need their ticket for entry to the disco.

  • Wear soft shoes, not sharp heels, to protect the gym floor.

  • Parents are welcome to attend the disco with their child.

  • Please be mindful and respect that only current students may attend due to Health and Safety around numbers. This means siblings or children from other schools are not to attend.

  • The disco begins at 5.30pm. Do not arrive before then. Entry is through the corridor of Tahuriwakanui.

  • Students will remain in the coned off area outside the gym. No wandering off or playing on the playground! No gum at the disco. The disco is for our current students only. Parents are welcome at the disco.

  • At the end of the disco, students will sit down, and parents will come forward to collect their tamariki. It is very important that no children leave Tahuriwakanui without an adult. You may choose to go straight home or join us for a Fire Dance by Brant & Ayla (Kiwi Can Leaders).

  • After the Fire Dance you will be invited to enjoy some kai prepared by Whānau teams. The Matariki celebrations should be finished by 7.30pm

Lockdown Drill

Lockdown Drill

Wednesday 18th June at 10.30am we are holding a Lockdown Drill. We have a drill to ensure everyone knows what to do if there is an emergency. The drill allows us to check our instructions are correct and to make students feel safe in case of emergency.

  • In readiness for a drill, kaiako go over the procedure that will be followed, answering questions and making sure that the children feel comfortable about the drill.

  • Following the drill, teachers take a “Mindfulness Session,” to relax and refocus the tamariki. There may be a follow-up discussion about how the class performed the drill.

  • Knowing that a drill is coming up, this may give your whānau an opportunity to discuss emergency plans and prepare tamariki for the practice.

Mobile Dental Clinic 2025

Mobile Dental Clinic 2025

The dental team will be seeing the most overdue tamariki during this visit. As the clinic will be prioritising all their appointments, it may not be possible for the dental staff to see all students during this visit.

The dental team will notify the whānau and families prior to their child’s dental appointment.

When you receive this notification, please contact the team to update any contact details, confirm medical details or renew permissions for examination and dental x-rays.

Current service demands and delays weigh heavily on their teams and your kindness and support is appreciated.

If you have any queries or urgent dental concerns, contact (027 742 8588) or 0800 TALK TEETH for further help and advice.
